A world of learning tailored for your child

British Orchard Nursery follows the British Early Years Foundation Stages (EYFS) curriculum that focuses on 7-core areas of age-appropriate learning.

Project based, child-led learning

At BON, we embrace an emergent curriculum approach, where projects are based on children's current interests, their rates of development, and individual needs. Teachers regularly assess children’s engagement during each project and adjust its duration or direction accordingly

Communication and Language
We provide a language-rich environment where children are encouraged to look at and listen to adults and other children, speak, and communicate effectively through a variety of activities such as singing and music, copying adult’s speech, learning new vocabulary and storytelling, role-play, and group discussions.

Personal, Social, and Emotional Development
We support children's social and emotional well-being and foster positive relationships by being interested in what our babies and young learners are engaged by and implementing our ‘Key Person’ approach. We promote self-regulation and nurture their sense of self-esteem and belonging within the Nursery.

Physical Development

Expressive Arts and Design
We encourage children to express themselves creatively through various mediums such as painting, drawing, music, drama, and imaginative play, fostering their aesthetic and imaginative development.

Empowering Learning Environments

At British Orchard Nursery, we see our classrooms as more than just rooms — they’re spaces that spark curiosity and confidence. Children learn best when they explore on their own, so we give them plenty of freedom to play, make choices, and discover new things at their own pace. Our teachers step in at the right moments to guide and encourage, helping little ones build resilience and a love for learning. Every age group has an environment designed just for them, so your child always feels safe, happy, and ready to grow.

Literacy programs at BON

Phonics
At BON, we implement a phonics program where children learn to identify, read, and write all 44 sounds of English as they are ready. The structured planning builds on previous learning each week, equipping children with the skills for independent reading and writing. It focuses on correct grapheme formation, sound tuning, blending, and spelling using various phonemes and high-frequency words for quick recall, applying this knowledge in reading and writing words, sentences, and phrases.
Guided Reading
In FS2 our children engage in guided reading activities weekly, with individual and group reading activities using leveled texts that support the development of key reading skills. Both our phonics and guided reading programs are closely matched to the end of phase expectations and early learning goals as described in the EYFS Statutory Framework and Development Matters.
